I took Valerian for a number of years with Citalopram and didn't have any adverse side effects. Not sure how it would work with Mirtazapine as that also has a sedative effect.
It is good for insomnia though.

I've been on Mirtazapine for 5 years and taken Valerian along with it at times when the Mirt wasn't helping me sleep as well as usual. Certainly didn't give me any side effects, but not sure it helped me sleep any better too. Maybe you will respond to Valerian better, but certainly you should have no problems with that combination if my experience is anything to go by.
Im taking both too without any noticable side effects, although i take herbal anti stress pills in the day and mirt at night
Taking Mirtazipine and valerian may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. You really shouldn't drink alcohol either.
