This site provides valuable information for sufferers and carers of people with Panic, Anxiety, Phobias and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD). Its purpose it to provide members with support, advice and a chance to meet like-minded people and make friends along the way. You should use the website information, Message Forum and Chat room alongside any care you are currently receiving from your physician.

I hope that you can find support, information and answers to many of your questions surrounding these disorders and, in time, make a full recovery like many of our members have.

By learning and understanding much more about these disorders, it does get easier to cope with and handle the symptoms and effects that you may be experiencing.

If you are new to anxiety and panic then I urge you to read the “First Steps” page right away. It’s a brief overview of the background of these disorders and what you can do to to help yourself.

We all have fears, phobias, stress and get anxious about everyday situations – exams, driving, shopping, hospital visits, socialising, dentists, flying, lifts, spiders, heights, water etc. but sometimes the problem can begin to rule our lives or become so intense that we can’t function day-to-day. This is when you need to seek help and support to start taking back control.

For people who suffer from Anxiety Disorders any “small” problem can get blown up out of all proportion and can dramatically affect your life, resulting in such severe anxiety that you may develop Panic Attacks and/or Phobias and or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. These disorders can, if untreated, ruin the quality of your life and subsequently also have a dire effect on the pattern of life of your family and friends. The disorders can slowly result in the sufferer becoming so self-limited to the point of complete agoraphobia and even virtually excluded from society, e.g. not able to go to out of the house, take holidays and many sufferers are unable to go to work.

The good news is that sufferers can and do get fully better. Recovery takes a lot of effort on your part, along with much help and support from those who understand and have been there themselves. Often this help and support is not available or forthcoming from families who simply do not understand what is going on, which is where this site can help you along your recovery path.

See the Personal Stories section for real-life experiences that you may be able to relate to.

Whilst I am not a healthcare professional I have written most of this information myself, as a fellow sufferer, so I hope it is of some help to you. It is not easy for me to admit that I am a sufferer, but this site would not be what it is without my personal opinions. When I first started suffering with panic, I was convinced that I was the only person who felt so terrified of what were every day things and I am pleased that most of our new members on the message forum all say how wonderful it is to finally ‘meet’ others who understand what it is like.

I am quite passionate about promoting awareness of these illnesses and will continue to improve this site. I would, however, like to thank “No Panic” who kindly allowed me access to some of their copyrighted information for inclusion on this site.

Please join the Message Forum, as this contains thousands of messages and information from fellow sufferers – all helping each other. You will find loads of useful tips there and get a chance to leave messages or ask specific questions about your situation.

You can also join the Chat Room, where members congregate socialise and help each other.

There are no membership fees to join the No More Panic community and the site is funded from advertising, donations from members and the sale of some promotional items.
