View Full Version : Would you know if you had had a aneurysm?

The reason I ask is because quite a few weeks ago now I felt as if something had snapped in my head. I posted on here about it and was given some great advice.

Anyhow, I have just been reading the paper about a family struck down by a brain illness (stupid of me, I know). This woman had felt an explosion in her head. When she had had a scan, it showed she had had an aneurysm a week earlier that had stopped bleeding and another that was still bleeding.

Now I am paranoid that I might have had one. Would I have known about it or not - or if it had healed its self etc etc.

Dont know what to do. I wish I had never read the newspaper now as I feel so awful and was doing so well this morning.

I have heard if you have one it is like the headache of all headaches! I had a doctor explain it to me because of all my stressing. He said there would be a noticable difference to my speach and movement. It certainly put my mind at rest, plus the newspapers only prints what it wants to print I am sure that a couple of crucial points were missed out.

I know what you mean about reading the papers I try and avoid it because it triggers all sorts of anx with me.

Hope all is well :)
Take care,
Jane

When it says explosion it means explosion! From what I've read it's described as the "worst headache of your life"!

I'm sure you're fine, this is one of my worries too so I know how you feel :hugs:

This is one of my main worries as well but if you had an aneurysm that ruptured you would know it for sure. To lower your risk you should avoid tobacco and caffeine as well as activities that strain and cause a quick increase in blood pressure. And also remember that there are certain things we just can't control as much as it sucks! Be sure to tell your GP if you have a family history of aneurysms as he may want to give you a CT scan but do not worry for now

I have also read that regular exercise can help lower your risk, it's a huge worry of mine but there are obvious warning signs as well.

Take care,
Jane

i wouldnt worry , you would get some vision problems too and effected balance. Ive studied it lol , cos my family have a history of it:mad: ,
one of my aunts collapsed in the shower and was found 6 hours later , she survived:yesyes: but as you can see it usually makes itself known.
Infact today i am seeing the specialist about my head  .
Try not to worry.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I just get a thought in my head and find I cannot shift it and the anxiety just gets worse and worse.

I really do appreciate the support I get on here.:yesyes:
