I was on citalopram for around 4 years came off cold turkey which was too much so went back on and tapered ,been off a year . Never felt quite same ,seem more anxious .Ive read so horror stories about permanent damage is this factual or just more anxieties ?

I went off sert and it took quite a long time to get back to normal. It was about 2 years ago probably. But I'm definitely better off without it.

I was told (by my therapist) that benzos cause cognitive damage, if taken long-term. I've just finished withdrawing Rivotril. Nasty business, withdrawal was, anxiety has come back, but I'm glad to be off medication.

I'm terribly sorry, I posted under 'Citalopram' without even realising it. :blush: Ah well, now you guys know about a benzo withdrawal lol
