Sorry about the gross factor... I'm worried about several symptoms at the moment, one of them being the presence of mucus when I urinate, which I noticed months ago. I also have an aching pain around my bladder area which has been on and off for several months, but it's back again tonight, which finally got me searching Google for answers. (That was not smart, I know.)
I found that while mucus in the urine can sometimes be a side effect of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (which I have), it can also be a sign of a rare form of bladder-related cancer called urachal cancer. (Sorry for dropping the c-word!)
But my anxiety is worse tonight than it's been in months. I lay awake in bed tonight, trembling and unable to fall asleep. I'm just here reaching out to you because I don't know what else to do with myself at times like this, and because I know you understand.
I should also mention that I went to my GP several months ago to complain about pelvic pain and mucus... he did a pap test at the time, and actually saw a lot of mucus there, so I could be mistaking where it's coming from, thinking it's from the bladder when it's actually coming from the cervix area...
Anyway, all of the tests he did on me at the time, including a swab and ultrasound came back clear (except for a small ovarian cyst which he also wasn't worried about). We talked about sending me to a bladder specialist, but he didn't think that was warranted. Until tonight, I hadn't had pain since then. But I'm thinking of going back to him and just getting the bladder specialist appointment scheduled and overwith.
Thanks for listening. And if anyone has dealt with similar symptoms, please let me know. Thanks!
