Yes... that's exactly what that is. "General" can encompass many aspects including depression and being anti-social. Great going for seeking help Peter!

Well done for making these first step Peter!

This seems to be a general practitioner referring you to a specialist for a diagnosis because these are symptoms as opposed to a specific set of disorders. Take this up with the psychologist as they will be updating your GP on your issues.

I'm surprised that the doctor didn't actually discuss this with you. When you see the psychiatrist ask him about the diagnosis, if any.

"Chronic" means long-term. It doesn't necessarily mean GAD. PTSD, panic disorder, phobias can all be chronic too.

If your anxiety is "free floating" and not fixated on any one thing or can come on without any stressful event triggering it, then that most likely to be GAD.

Low mood of course generally refers to depression.

You've taken the right steps Peter, good luck.

Means you feel Anxious frequently over a long period of time , Acute Anxiety would mean you feel anxious less frequently over a period of time.
I believe most people who have Had to wait /waited to be diagnosed would have the same thing written, doesnt mean Worse Anxiety just you get it more , like most did without thier initial diagnosis or Medication/ therapy i supsect :)
