I have had the Health Anxiety diagnoses. I also got called illness paranoid once by a horrid doctor.
Yes I had the diagnosis but they call it health anxiety.
This is what I though x
Nope but was diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder. In other words, a worry wart! :)
Yep diagnosed with health anxiety and slight post traumatic stress
i was diagnosed with ptsd last year. Yesterday i was diagnosed by a psychaitric registrar (my gp was concerned about my levels of anxiety) with severe depression and GAD with the specifity of HA. x
I'm probably wrong but I've always viewed HA and hypochondria as separate, although there is some overlap.
I'm overly concerned with my health, and worry about new symptoms, but will go for tests and accept the results.
So I'm not a hypochondriac, because AFAIK a hypochondriac will always think the Doc has missed something if the tests come back negative.

hypochondria is the "old school" name for what is now called Health Anxiety.
I have been diagnosed with health anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder and major depression in the past six months. That was via a questionnaire that I filled out when I started CBT. They don't formally diagnose you, but they told me that I fitted the criteria for those three conditions and I was a very lobg way above the mimimum scoring for all three. It didn't surprise me as I already knew I had all of thoae things!
