View Full Version : Tension in jaw makes speech difficult
I appear to have so much tension in my jaw that I am having difficulty talking, my lips are very dry but too much spit somehow. Trying not to ratchet the anxiety up but struggling with it. Any advice?
have you got anything like a muscle relaxant, diazapam or something?

Sounds a bit like TMJ, do you grind your teeth a lot?

I agree, that might be TMJ. Stress and anxiety make mine much worse. During exams one year, my jaw muscles swelled so much that I could barely open my mouth. I've been told by a doctor to take ibuprofen for it--sometimes that helps, sometimes not. It sometimes does help me to put ice or warm compresses on the jaw muscle if it's swollen.
